Holy Trinity Guildwood During COVID-19What's Happening and How We Are Still Here for You

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)

Social distancing need not mean faith distancing. During this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, your prayers, encouragement and support of each other is more important than ever.  Your Church of Holy Trinity, Guildwood, is here for you.

Onsite Worship is not available as of Nov. 21, 2020.

When and if Onsite Services are permitted again, we will adhere to the following Safety Precautions as a minimum:

To help us meet government directives, we ask that you please do the following:

Preparation and Arrival for each Service

  • Register for the service that you wish to attend prior to coming to church on Eventbrite, or if you don’t have access to a computer, please call the church office (416-261-9503) to book your spot. Register early to guarantee a seat, as we have a maximum safe seating capacity of 60.
    • Access Church of the Holy Trinity, Guildwood’s Eventbrite page here, find the service you want to attend and register.
  • Arrive early (30 – 15 minutes) before the service, so as to avoid line-up at the door and have plenty of time to check in. Then go directly to your seat.
  • Please do not congregate or socialize in the narthex (church lobby).
  • Wear a MASK that covers your mouth, nose and chin all the time you are in the building. (Wearing a mask is mandatory for all people, who are over two-years-of-age.)
  • To maintain physical distancing some of the pews are blocked off and the others will have a mark to show you where you can sit.
  • Only sit with those who are in your social bubble.
  • You are welcome to bring your own Book of Alternative Services, if you have one.

During the Service

  • Do not use the kneelers, which have been taped in the upright position.
  • Have no physical contact during the peace.
  • To go up for communion, come up the centre aisle in single file using the marks on the floor to keep physical distance. Communion is only received standing. There will be a single communion station at the 8:00 am service and two communion stations (one on the left and one on the right) for the 10:30 am service.
  • When you take communion, the bread will be placed in your hand and you will continue to move (either to the left or right) to the next mark on the floor. Using an earl loop move your mask to the side and consume the bread. Using the ear loop again, replace your mask on your face. Then sanitize your hands; there will be a station for that, and then return to your seat.
  • The service is being livestreamed. If you do not wish to be part of the video, please sit in the back row.

After the Service

  • After the service, please exit the building as quickly as possible so others can also exit safely.
  • Do not gather or socialize in the Narthex.

Weekly Online Livestream Service

From Sept. 13, 2020 on, we are offering the opportunity to gather online for a weekly, livestream worship experience, which will be uploaded around 10:30 a.m. on our YouTube channel.  You may also choose to view the service again or at another time better suited to your schedule. Please click here for this week’s order of service – Reign of Christ: November 22, 2020 SK

Message from Stephen

Jesus calls us to “love your neighbour as yourself.” Self-care and care of neighbour and stranger are intimately connected. The deep truth is we are all one cosmic eco-system, the Body of Christ. By caring for our own health (see tips from our Parish Nurses below), you are better able to care for others, and in caring for others, you are in the words of Scripture, caring for Christ, himself (Mt 25:31-39).

Jesus is not at a distance, he is named ‘Immanuel’ because he is “God with us,” God with us in good times and bad.  With Christ as our companion, protector and guide we can successfully rise to meet even the most difficult challenges, free from fear, trusting in God’s deep love and care.

– Rev. Stephen Kirkegaard
